We Are Recruiting Volunteers
Cairns Counselling has been providing support to adults in Aberdeen since 1994 and are proud recipients of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service. Established as a counselling service to meet the needs of our community, we have grown in capacity over this time to provide around 5000 counselling sessions each year.
We are looking for volunteers to provide interim support to service users who are waiting for their counselling to begin.
Do you have a good listening ear?
Do you have experience of providing emotional support?
Do you have some free time?
Do you have an interest in volunteering with us?
This project has been awarded funding from The National Lottery-Community Fund. We are looking to recruit volunteers who are skilled in providing help and understanding to those in need of emotional support. They will not be involved in counselling as this role is supplementary to our main counselling appointments. Mandatory training will be provided to prepare candidates for the role. It is expected that some of the benefits will include helping prepare people for counselling and providing support to those who may be more isolated or vulnerable.
Volunteers will have direct contact with clients, providing them with information and support sessions which will be one off and ad hoc, allocated on request. Successful candidates will work alongside our team of counsellors to make a real difference to those in need. The position is for regulated work and you are therefore required to become a member of the PVG Scheme and be registered as working with protected adults at Cairns. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to working with us.
Training is scheduled to take place on 28th & 29th March, and 4th & 5Th April.
